FAQs

How do we get started & what do you charge?

1

The first question I typically get from prospective clients. You want to know if this is worth exploring. I get it. I peg my rates to the Global Voice Acting Academy Rate Guide (GVAA). This is the industry standard for non-union VoiceOver pricing. Typically, I’ll ask for the word count or script, the intended audience, where the audio will be used (internal vs. public) and deadline to provide an estimated quote. If this is an ongoing project, we can negotiate terms that work best for both parties.

What is your process for preparing and recording a technical script?

2

When I receive a script, I review it for flow, understandable content, and tricky phrasing. I may suggest edits if the script is not already through final legal review. If we are not doing a directed session, I will ask for a phone call to finalize any questionable details in the script including verifying pronunciations of drug names, etc. I will rehearse the script and deliver the audio in a .wav file before the agreed upon deadline.

Do you record via ‘live directed’ sessions?

3

Yes! This is the most ideal scenario! Clients sit in on the recording via a Zoom, Google Meets or Teams call. The client team can hear the recorded content immediately via a LoopBack system, direct any changes, ask questions, etc. This way clients get exactly what they’re seeking! Recordings are cleaned up shortly after recording and delivered to the client.

What makes you different?

Honestly, I am uniquely suited and ideal for medical, scientific, corporate narration projects. I have extensive experience in the biomedical sciences - being a former scientist, science & medical writer, and having worked for academia, government, and private industry. I can communicate with various audiences in those industries in multiple capacities.
